"As a dancer I could notice the tension I had in my body and the AT has helped me do things more efficiently. I've noticed a big difference in how my body moves and feels, and I have more freedom of movement. Lori has a great perspective as a former gymnast for how the body moves and applies that knowledge to how she teaches the Technique. She's also very flexible about working on specific things and clearly loves what she's doing!"

"The exciting thing about the Alexander Technique is that I don’t have to depend on someone else to 'fix' me when I’m in pain. I’ve learned a skill for living so that I can prevent injury and strain, as well as manage myself when I do overdo it."

After trying various remedies and treatments for her chronic back, neck, jaw, and knee pain due to gymnastics injuries (she was very good on the balance beam) and the stress of working at a computer for many hours, Lori learned about the Alexander Technique from her physical therapist. From 2002 until 2005 she took weekly, private lessons, and experienced life-changing results - results that no other form of therapy or treatment was able to deliver because the Technique addressed the root of her problems. It was that experience that motivated her to become an Alexander Technique instructor herself.

Lori enrolled at the Oregon Center for the Alexander Technique and, after completing 1600 hours of class work and study, was awarded her AmSat Certification and launched reDiscover Movement in 2008. For Lori, helping people move beyond pain is the greatest reward she can imagine. She loves to see the relief in the faces of the students she works with and to teach them skills to manage their pain. She also enjoys the relationships she's built with students she's worked with throughout her training and in her own practice.

Lori also holds a BA in International Business from Illinois State University (1990), and studied Business, Spanish and French and lived and worked in France after graduating. In 1993, Lori earned an International MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, with a focus on Marketing and French, during which she interned with the U.S. Department of Commerce in Toronto, Canada. She also spent three years living and working in Costa Rica.

A Dayton native, Lori returned to Centerville in 2010 to be closer to family after blazing her own trail in Oregon for 16 years. When not helping students to reDiscover movement, you'll typically find Lori cooking, exploring the historic, small towns near Dayton, or helping the administrative staff at her church. She also frequently travels to Illinois and Indiana to visit her younger brother and sisters, and nieces and nephews.
